FAQ’S - YOGA TEACHER TRAINING
Does my practice have to be at a certain level to participate?
No, not at all! We welcome all bodies, abilities and levels. When Sandy did their first teacher training at age 19, they had attended less than 10 yoga classes.
The only thing that needs to be flexible is your mind.
What if I can't make it to some of the dates?
100% in-person attendance and participation is required to meet the training requirements. Please see T&C’s below for full attendance terms and conditions.
Are there any prerequisites?
Yes, you are required to log 20 classes before the training begins, which are to be submitted one week before training commences. Upon sign-up, you will receive the log to fill in, which can be backdated by 6 months if required. You are also required to purchase and read “Jivamukti Yoga: Practices for Liberating Body and Soul” by Sharon Gannon and David Life (not included in course cost).
It is highly recommended that you practice with Sandy prior to participating in the course, so that you are familiar with their approach to teaching yoga. This could be in-person during their visits to Scout; in Tasmania, or via their online classes on this website.
How will I be assessed?
On the first day of training you will receive your written exam to complete in your own time. To receive your teaching certificate, this must be handed in at the end of the course, and your practical assessment must be completed.
The practical assessment consists of you teaching a class during week 3 of the course. You also need to complete an additional 10 classes in your practice log during the break between weeks 2 and 3.
But don’t worry — there are no scary memorisation exams where you have to cram your brain with a million facts and Sanskrit names.
Is there homework throughout the course?
Due to the accelerated nature of this training, there will be very minimal homework through the course, and only a small amount during the break between weeks 2 and 3.
Will this training be livestreamed and recorded?
No, it will not! Aside from the three online sessions that take place on August 19, 26 and September 2, this training is delivered entirely in-person. This is a rare opportunity to learn directly from Sandy, who lives in Tasmania, and have most of the guest teachers present in-person also.
I'm not sure I'm ready to teach...
That’s totally fine! You are still so welcome to participate. Many people complete a teacher training to deepen their practice and understanding of yoga. It is a wonderful thing to do!
