Meet Ingelise, the creative force behind An Ode To Colour, a vibrant hair and makeup studio in Newtown. We chatted to Ingelise all about about her passion for colour, creativity, and making every client feel their best. Can you share a little bit of your background and what brought you to your passion for hair & makeup?

I've been playing with hair and making people look and feel good for 20 years now. It came from a passion in arts and crafts and of course fashion. As well as using my hands to create things. I have always been inspired by how people can use hair and makeup to express themselves and feel like their authentic selves. I love that I can help facilitate that.

Can you tell us more about the story of An Ode To Colour and what makes you different to other salons?

Back in 2022 I found a cute, sun filled space in Newtown which has always felt like my spiritual home. After coming home home from London post covid, an Ode to Colour has taken life and connected me to a wonderful community of clients and friends.

I run An Ode to Colour by appointment only. Meaning that when you join me in the creative space you have exclusive time with me to unwind, be pampered and refresh or reinvent yourself. I work with my clients to create styles and colours personal to them that work with their lifestyles and are inspired by the world around us. Also, there's a salon doggo!

What does a typical weekday (or week) at An Ode to Colour look like?

The sharing of stories. Puppa cuddles. Creative colours. Maintenance catch ups. Fresh cuts. Bouncy blowouts. Head massages.

What do you most love about your job / about An Ode to Colour?

The ability to make someone feel good about themselves. Whether its a full creative transformation, a maintenance visit or just a simple wash, head massage and a chat. It's an incredible rewarding career.

Anything you’re extra excited about this year for An Ode to Colour?

This year marks the third year in my studio space. I'm excited to see what the rest of the year holds. I have a few ideas bubbling away in the background. Community events, gallery nights and the like.
